Pic Questions

How do I upload Multiple Pics?

To start, you will need to sign up for a free account here (Click Here). Once you have logged in, go to your Pics section and click Use Bulk Uploader. You may be prompted to install Sun Java in your browser. Then just select the folder containing your pics, select pics by check mark(s) and upload.

How do I upload a Pic?

Visitors: Select Choose File in the Quick Upload Section. Browse to the pic you would like to upload. Rename and Resize are optional but can be very useful when sharing. Click Upload and that's it.

Members: Go to your Pics section by either using the toolbar or the Member Homepage. Choose from where you would like to upload the picture – either from your computer or from a direct link to a picture. Rename, Tags and Resize are all optional. Add to Album is defaulted to your Default album but you can choose to upload to another album by using the drop down or selecting an album on the left.

How do I edit a Pic with Fotoflexer?

Visitors: Upload a picture (see here for instructions) then select Edit Pic with Fotoflexer. See (http://fotoflexer.com/) for more instructions on how to use Fotoflexer. Once you are finished, hit Save and choose the file type you would like to use. The edited pic will now be available to share.

Members: Go to your Pics section by either using the toolbar or the member homepage. While uploading a pic (see here for instructions) and check Edit with Fotoflexer. See (http://fotoflexer.com/) for more instruction on how to use Fotoflexer. Once you are finished, hit Save and choose the file type you would like and it will be saved to your account.

Which Pic code is best for me?

First you must ask yourself where you will be using the pic.

HTML code will be best used for websites and/or blogs.

IMG code also known as BBcode and is best used on most forums and some blogs.

Direct link will link to picture on the website.

Email & IM will take the person to the detailed view of the uploaded pic. There they can view the code and share with others as well. If you are a member, your Plick Card can be used to get recognition for your pic/work as well as link back to your personal profile. It's a great way of social networking.

How do I Plick a Pic I've uploaded?

We've made this really easy, all you have to do is click the large purple button that says "Plick This Pic". The picture is already inputted for you now all you have to do is add the URL/Link that you would like the Plick to lead to. Fill out the optional features if you'd like and hit Save.

How do I resize a Pic?

Resizing can be done in 2 ways, by the simple drop down in the Pic Uploader or by using Fotoflexer (see how to edit pics with Fotoflexer).

What are the Pic size limits?

The pic size limit is 10 megabytes. Pics larger than 10 megabytes will be resized.

Why can't I upload a Pic?

There could be several reasons so let's try and narrow them down.

First make sure the pic you are trying to upload one of the supported formats – jpg, jpeg, gif, png, bmp, tiff.

If you are a member, make sure you haven't reached your maximum bandwidth for the month. Don't worry, it will reset every month but if you must upload a picture you can always use the visitor uploader. However, keep in mind that your pics, links, and plicks will not be saved to your account.

Lastly, PicsOrLinks may be undergoing maintenance and may respond slowly. Try back later.

How do I share the Pics I upload?

We make it easy for you by creating "Quick Code" that you can copy & paste wherever the code is supported. We offer several options to make sure you can share your Pics anywhere you work and play on the net.

How do I make my Pics private?

You can do this 3 ways:

In Manage Pics section, you can select "info" above the picture and change the setting to private.

In the Manage Pics section, you can click the link below pic labeled "Public". It will take you to the info page to change the privacy with a drop down and save.

You can set an Album to private which will turn all pictures in that album private. Privacy is marked by the word as well as color coded. Public is Green, Shared is Yellow, and Private is Red.

How do I make my Albums private?

Go to your albums by either selecting it in the toolbar or the member homepage. Select info on the album you would like to change, select private, then hit save. All the pictures in that album will become private.

What is the difference in the privacies?

Public: Is public to anyone and everyone.

Shared: Is restricted to only your friends on PicsOrLinks.com.

Private: Is for your personal use only and can only be viewed by you unless you share it using the quick code.

How do I download Albums?

Once you've created an album that you would like to save on your computer all you have to do is click Download Album under the Manage Pics section. A zip file will be downloaded to your computer containing all the pics in the selected Album.

What are the upload limits?

Each member account is allotted 100MB of upload bandwidth every month. Once you exceed this space you will no longer be able to save more content to your account until the following month. You can however continue to use the visitor uploader by logging out but your pictures will not be saved to your account.

How do I move pics?

Select the Pic(s) you would like to move by checking it and then selecting move. You will be given a drop down of the albums that you have on your account. Select the album you want the pic moved to and hit save. Note: You can only move pictures if you have more than 1 album.

How do I embed multiple pics?

We have created a simple system to make generating and embedding multiple pics in places like forums. Go to the Manage Pics section or the Do More – Bulk Embed section form the the Member Homepage. Check the pictures you would like to embed and click the green Embed Multiple Pics button. Here you will be able to add captions that will appear over each pic when embedded.

This is great for when you are trying to tell a story with pics or explain what's going on. You can also shift the order of the pics by using the arrows below the pics. When you are finished, click Generate Multiple Code. Copy all the code in the box created and paste into the forum you are trying to post the pics to. We are working on adding an option to generate html code for websites. Sit tight and we'll have it in no time.

Link Questions

What is a shrunken url?

A shrunken url is a link to a website made smaller to make it easier to remember and share with others.

How do I create a shrunken URL?

Very easily, all you have to do is paste the URL into the labeled field. Create a custom link to make sharing even easier if you like. Then click Shrink.

What can I do with a shrunken url?

You can share it with other and it more functional for use on websites and forums. It's better than posting a really long URL like http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%D0%A0%B0% D0%BD%D0%BA%D0%D0%B0%BA%D0%D0%BA.

How do I store my shrunken links?

All you have to do is sign up for free here (Click here to sign up for Free).

How do I add links to my profile?

Once you have created a link click, add it to favorites and it will automatically show up on your Profile.

How do I save my friends links?

When you find a link you would like to catalog, select the save feature under the options located on the right of the link.

What's a Plick?

A Plick is a picture with a clickable link. The link can lead users to an album, a website, a forum, wherever you want it to go!

Where can I use Plicks?

Anywhere you can post/embed a Pic.

How do I share Plicks?

By using the wide selection of Quick Code we offer to embed of Websites, Forums, Blogs and More!

Why does my picture have polaroids on it?

Polaroids visually symbolize plicks. Similar to how blue & underlined text represents a link.

How do I make a Plick?

Select a pic you would like to use then input the link you would like the plick to lead to and hit plick.

How do you use a Plick?

Plicks can be used in many ways, some of which we can't even think of. Most use them to link to pic albums, websites, blogs, forums ect. We're sure you can think of other ways. :)

What is a Passsive Plick?

Plicks don't work on all sites, that is where passive plicks come in. A passive Plick is a Pic with the URL stamped in a space below the Pic so that it can be used on sites that do not allow linking.

 

Miscellaneous Questions

Do I need an account to upload and shrink urls?

No, you don't. You need an account to save URLs, access quick codes, set privacy.

How do I create an account?

Click here and fill out the required information and don't forget to activate the account by clicking the link given in the email we send you.

I signed up but I haven't received a confirmation e–mail. What should I do?

Check your junk e–mail. If that doesn't work, go to the sign up and have another confirmation e–mail sent.

I forgot my username/password.

No problem, (click here) and enter your E–Mail.

What's an Event Album?

It's one of our favorite features for sharing with friends and family. It allows you to create an album with shared access for all of your friends and family. It's a great way to gather pics from many sources to one place.

What is Fotoflexer?

Fotoflexer is a free picture editing tool we offer to our Visitors/Members to edit their pics in fun and exciting ways to be shared.

How do I make stuff with my Pics?

Everyone needs stuff. Go to the Make Stuff section under Do More in the main menu. You can work with our partners to order prints and imprint t–shirts, mugs, all sorts of neat things with your pics.

How do I save my temporary files?

To save all your temporary files for sharing all you have to do is sign up. We will transfer the pics you have temporarily stored to your new account. What are you waiting for? Sign up for free here.

How do I browse other members' pics and plicks?

You can click Explore on the toolbar to see the top catergories, pics, plicks, and members or you can use the drop down to browse specifics. You can also use your search bar to find a specific category by inputting what you are looking for along with the correct drop down.

How do I find a member?

Under Explore select Members or use the search bar with members selected in the drop down. You can then search by Gender, Real Name, Username, E–Mail or Info in their profile.

How do I browse groups?

You can browse groups by a specific word(s) in the search bar with Groups selected or you can go to Groups under the Explore drop down.

How do I add a friend?

You will need an account (see How to create an account) then you can search for other members and click Friend Request under their Username on their Plick Card. The member will have to approve your request before they can become your friend.

How do I delete a friend?

You can delete a friend in the Manage Friends section. Select Remove Friend in the Friends section.

You can go to their profile and select the large icon that says Remove. You will be prompted to confirm the deletion.

How do I report harassment?

You can contact us using the Support link.

How do I report inappropriate pics?

Click the "Flag the Pic" link above the inappropriate pic. Once we're notified, we'll review the pic in question. Thank you for bring it to our attention.

What is a Plick Card?

We like to think of it as condensed social networking. You can share your profile in a tight little package that provides an overview what you have to show. It's another way to express yourself. Think of it as a social business card.

How do I edit my Plick Card?

So you want to express yourself with a Plick Card. Well it's very simple. Click on Settings under the Home menu and go to the Plick Card section. Here you will be able to change several aspects of your card.

How do I edit my Profile?

Go to Settings under the Home menu to the Edit Profile section. If want to express yourself and showcase your stuff check out (Edit Plick Card).

How do I rate a Pic?

So you've found a pic you like, hate, or find so–so? In that case, just mouse over and click the star rating you would like to give the Pic. Note: Only members can rate pics.

How do I invite a friend?

Click on Friends in the Home menu. You can enter multiple emails at a time separated by commas. You can even add a personal note so they know it's not spam. It sure feels great to share a great find. :)

How do I create a group?

Click on Create a Group in the Manage Groups section and fill out the form.
